Residents at specified addresses on two Waterloo streets no longer need to boil their tap water after the Seneca County Health Department lifted its order Sunday, Oct. 4.
The department's notice applies to Village of Waterloo Water District customers at 4 through 56 West Elizabeth Street and 17 through 38 Center Street. Water sampling showed no bacteria in the distribution system, the department said.
The department issued the precautionary order after water main breaks caused a loss of pressure Thursday night, Oct. 1. The order applied only to the listed addresses, not the entire village.
The new notice says the boil water order has been lifted. It does not say whether all waterline repairs are complete.

The department asked customers to share the update with others who drink the affected water, especially people in apartments, nursing homes, schools and businesses who may not have received the notice directly.
