AAA has added hotels in Las Vegas, Miami and St. Lucia to its Four Diamond lodging list, a designation held by about 7% of the nearly 23,000 lodgings in its Diamond program.
The newly named properties are the Vanderpump Hotel in Las Vegas, the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne in Miami and Secrets St. Lucia Resort & Spa in Gros Islet, according to AAA's Sept. 28 announcement.
AAA said its inspectors visit hotels and restaurants without advance notice across North America, the Caribbean and Costa Rica. The program evaluates what it calls four Cs: cleanliness, comfort, cuisine and consistency. Inspectors update the Diamond lists monthly as they complete evaluations throughout the year.
The three new Four Diamond hotels join roughly 1,750 hotels at that level, AAA said. The organization also lists about 145 Five Diamond hotels, 500 Four Diamond restaurants and 65 Five Diamond restaurants.
AAA has conducted in-person property evaluations since 1937. Its broader inventory includes more than 28,000 Diamond-designated hotels and restaurants, spanning the Five Diamond, Four Diamond, Three Diamond and Approved levels in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica and the Caribbean.
Travelers can review Diamond properties through AAA's Trip Canvas planning tool or ask a AAA travel agent about hotels and reservations. The Sept. 28 additions concern properties outside New York; AAA did not announce a new Finger Lakes or New York designation in this release.
