Waterloo man accused of failing to report social media accounts

A Waterloo man faces two felony charges after investigators alleged he failed to report social media accounts as required under New York’s sex offender registration rules.

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office said investigators arrested Joseph Wickum, 37, at about 5:30 p.m. Sept. 14 and charged him with two counts of failure to report a change in status within 10 days, a Class E felony.

Investigators alleged the man, who is registered as a sex offender in New York, did not report two social media accounts to the state Division of Criminal Justice Services.

He was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charges Oct. 7 in Waterloo Town Court.
