A Branchport man faces multiple felony charges after a crash on Middle Road in the town of Potter early Aug. 23, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
Eric W. Mausteller, 34, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, felony driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or greater, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, moving from lane unsafely, failure to keep right and operating an uninspected motor vehicle.
Deputies responded around 12:38 a.m. to a report of a motor vehicle crash with injuries. The sheriff’s office said Mausteller initially refused to identify himself and did not comply with a lawful order to step away from the vehicle.
Authorities said Mausteller then physically resisted being taken into custody. Deputies later determined he had been driving the vehicle and said he showed signs of intoxication.
Mausteller was arrested and taken to the Yates County Jail, where he was held pending centralized arraignment.
New York State Police, the Potter Fire Department and Middlesex Ambulance also responded to the scene.
