Gov. Kathy Hochul's reelection campaign launched two television ads Thursday as the start of a multimillion-dollar statewide advertising effort that it says will continue through Election Day.
The ads, titled "Every Penny" and "100%," will run on broadcast and cable television as well as streaming and digital platforms. The campaign did not disclose a more specific spending total or say how the money would be divided among those platforms.
The launch comes ahead of a New York State Democratic Party organizing push next week. Hochul's campaign said she plans to join the campaign trail during a weekend of action that is expected to include more than 150 events across the state aimed at mobilizing voters before the November election.
"Every Penny" focuses on Hochul's account of working her first job at a Buffalo pizzeria and her family's experience stretching its budget. The ad connects that story to her campaign message about lowering costs for New York families.
The second ad draws a contrast with Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman by using comments he has made about President Donald Trump at public appearances, including a joint event last Friday in New York. Hochul's campaign argues in the ad that Blakeman's support for Trump aligns him with policies that would increase the cost of gas, groceries and health care.
Friends for Kathy Hochul campaign manager Preston Elliott said the advertising and organizing effort would carry the campaign's contrast with Blakeman to voters through screens, doorsteps and phones. He also said the campaign plans to emphasize Hochul's agenda on costs, children and community safety while criticizing Blakeman's support for Trump and immigration enforcement.
The campaign release included online links to both ads but did not provide a detailed schedule for Hochul's appearances during next week's organizing events.
