Two Seneca Falls residents face identity theft, business records and child endangerment charges after investigators alleged one used a deceased relative's identity to obtain goods and services and apply for credit.
The Seneca County Sheriff's Office arrested John Walters, 48, and Jessica Dyson, 41, on July 27 and charged them with first-degree identity theft, first-degree falsifying business records and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Investigators alleged Walters used the deceased relative's personal identifying information to obtain goods and services and seek lines of credit in the relative's name.
The Sheriff's Office also alleged Walters and Dyson used narcotics in the presence of their two young children and left drug paraphernalia where the children could reach it.
Both were taken to the Seneca County Jail for processing and arraignment in the county's Centralized Arraignment Part Court. Walters was remanded after arraignment, while Dyson was released on her own recognizance.
The Sheriff's Office said Seneca County Child Protective Services assisted with the investigation.
