A Naples man faces felony charges after police said reckless driving caused a passenger to fall from the bed of a pickup truck and suffer a severe brain injury July 5 in Canandaigua.
Reese A. Cooper, 25, was arrested July 27 and charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident involving serious physical injury, according to the Canandaigua Police Department.
Police allege Cooper drove the truck recklessly, causing Thomas Galgano, 25, of Naples, to fall from the truck bed and strike his head on the pavement.
Galgano suffered a severe traumatic brain injury that included fractures, internal swelling and hemorrhaging, police said. Investigators said Cooper's actions created a grave risk of death.
Police also allege Cooper left the scene without calling police or emergency medical services.
Cooper was processed and taken to centralized arraignment court.
