The Wayne County Sheriff's Office has donated $14,710 to support a planned wellness center for first responders at the New York State Sheriffs' Institute summer camp on Keuka Lake.
Sheriff Rob Milby presented the check during the New York State Sheriffs' Association summer training conference in Fairport, according to the office.
The Sheriff Ron Spike Wellness Center is planned as a dedicated space for health, education and peer support programs for first responders from September through May.
The donation includes money raised by sheriff's office members over the past two years through the summer camp donation program and $2,500 from the Palmyra Moose Riders Club.
The institute's master plan calls for an 8,000-square-foot, year-round building that would house the wellness center during most of the year and support the summer camp program from June through August.
