Residents across Ontario County will have several opportunities this weekend to take care of their pets, homes, and personal safety through a series of public events scheduled for Saturday.
The Town of Canandaigua highlighted multiple community-focused efforts, including a free rabies vaccination clinic, a prescription drug take-back event, and a household hazardous waste collection day.
A free rabies clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Ontario County Public Works facility, with officials encouraging pet owners to register in advance. The clinic aims to help residents keep pets up to date on vaccinations and comply with state requirements.
Later in the morning, a Drug Enforcement Administration take-back event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wegmans in Geneva. The initiative provides a safe and convenient way for residents to dispose of unused or expired medications, helping reduce the risk of misuse and environmental contamination.
Also taking place Saturday is a household hazardous waste collection event, scheduled from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Organizers say residents can dispose of materials such as paint, batteries, and cleaning products, though advance registration is required.
Town officials say the events are part of a broader push to promote public safety, environmental responsibility, and community well-being heading into the spring season.
