Yankees win fifth straight as Max Fried dominates, Amed Rosario drives in four

The New York Yankees extended their win streak to five games with a 4-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night at Fenway Park, as Max Fried delivered eight scoreless innings and Amed Rosario accounted for all four runs batted in to lift New York to 15-9 on the season.

The Yankees wasted little time taking control against the Red Sox, jumping out to an early lead behind Rosario’s bat. The infielder crushed a three-run home run over the Green Monster in the first inning, giving New York an immediate cushion. He later added a sacrifice fly in the third to drive in the Yankees’ fourth run. Giancarlo Stanton chipped in with a pair of doubles, while Aaron Judge reached base three times, including a single and two walks, as New York did enough offensively to support its ace.

Fried took over from there, settling in after a few early baserunners and turning in one of his best outings of the season. The left-hander allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out nine over eight dominant innings. After working through traffic in the early frames, Fried retired the final 14 batters he faced, mixing his offspeed pitches effectively to keep Boston’s lineup off balance.

The Yankees’ bullpen handled the rest, with Brent Headrick allowing a late run before closing out the victory. New York’s pitching staff combined to limit Boston to minimal offense, continuing a strong stretch during the club’s current surge.

Box Score

The Yankees will look to keep the momentum going on Thursday at 6:10 p.m. when they go for the three-game sweep of the Red Sox.
