NY pushes 4 a.m. bar hours for World Cup frenzy

Soccer fans across New York could soon party until 4 a.m. as officials roll out a plan to cash in on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to USA Today Network.

Kathy Hochul is proposing extended bar hours during live matches and a new one-day permit that lets businesses serve alcohol at watch parties and fan events. The plan also allows bars and restaurants to expand service into outdoor spaces for the full tournament.

State leaders expect a surge in tourism and spending, saying the changes will cut red tape and help small businesses tap into the global event while keeping alcohol service regulated.
