Cayuga Community College’s offense left little doubt Saturday, erupting for 33 total runs in a dominant doubleheader sweep of Mohawk Valley Community College at Falcon Park.
The Spartans powered past the Hawks 22-8 in the opener before closing out the day with an 11-3 win, continuing a stretch of explosive offensive production that has defined their season.
Cayuga wasted no time responding to an early deficit in game one, answering Mohawk Valley’s three-run first inning with eight runs of its own. The Spartans added seven more in the third inning to break the game open.
Lewis Huang led the charge with six RBIs, while Jeremy Recio and Chase Mascelli each drove in three runs. Jakson Ross, Ben Hatfield and Isaac Allison all scored three times in the rout.
The second game followed a quieter start before Cayuga broke through, pulling away for an 11-3 victory behind another balanced offensive effort. Hatfield delivered a key blow with a three-run home run to help seal the sweep.
With the wins, Cayuga improved to 26-10 overall and 16-2 in East Division play.
