A decades-long tradition celebrating America’s political history will return to Geneva next month, bringing collectors and curious visitors together for a one-day showcase of rare and nostalgic artifacts.
The 52nd Annual Finger Lakes Political and Pop Culture Memorabilia Show is scheduled for Saturday, May 2 at the Sons and Daughters of Italy Lodge on Prospect Avenue.
The event, hosted by the Monroe D. Ray Chapter of the American Political Items Collectors, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with admission set at $2. Students and children will be admitted free.
Organizers say the show has grown significantly since its beginnings more than five decades ago in a small Auburn church hall, evolving into a regional destination for collectors of political and historical memorabilia.
Attendees can browse, buy, sell, and trade a wide range of items tied to campaigns and causes throughout American history. Displays are expected to include campaign buttons, ribbons, posters, badges, and other ephemera, along with unique and one-of-a-kind collectibles.
The event is also designed for those who may not consider themselves collectors. Visitors are encouraged to bring political or presidential items from home for evaluation, with experts available to provide free appraisals. Select items may also be eligible for an on-site auction.
Organizers say the annual gathering offers a rare opportunity to connect with history in a hands-on way, while bringing together longtime enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
