Personal stories of chronic illness pushed action, according to the Finger Lakes Times, as Canandaigua leaders created a new team to tackle tick-borne diseases.
City council approved a seven-member committee with experts in health care, education, and environmental science. Members include medical professionals, educators, and a former judge, all bringing experience with prevention and treatment.
The group will focus on public education and outreach while developing long-term strategies to reduce tick populations and limit exposure across the community.
