Newark to host second public workshop on waterfront revitalization plans

Residents will have another chance to weigh in on the future of Newark’s waterfront as village officials prepare to host a second public workshop focused on proposed improvements and long-term planning.

The session, part of the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program, will give community members an opportunity to review findings, ask questions, and share feedback on projects shaping the village’s waterfront area.

The workshop will be held Wednesday, May 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Newark Fire Department Meeting Hall, located at 100 East Miller St. A brief presentation is scheduled for 5:15 p.m., though attendees can stop in at any time during the two-hour window.

Organizers say the event will highlight potential projects and opportunities identified within the designated waterfront revitalization area, with a focus on gathering public input to help guide future development.

The Local Waterfront Revitalization Program is a state-supported initiative designed to help communities plan and implement projects that improve access, economic activity, and environmental conditions along waterfronts.

Officials say feedback collected during the workshop will play a key role in shaping the final vision for a more active and accessible waterfront in Newark.
