Officers responded to 2,557 calls for service in March, while making 74 adult arrests and executing 16 warrants. Domestic violence investigations accounted for one of the largest categories of incidents, with 77 cases reported during the month, alongside 23 harassment investigations and five violations of orders of protection.

Property-related crimes included 26 larceny investigations, 11 criminal mischief cases, and five burglary investigations. Police also handled 19 drug-related investigations and 10 fraud cases.

Mental health and public safety responses remained a significant part of the department’s workload. Officers investigated 18 mental health-related incidents, seven missing person cases, three overdoses, and 20 suicide attempts.

Quality-of-life complaints also made up a large share of calls, including 64 reports of disorderly conduct, fights or noise complaints, and 145 suspicious activity investigations.

Traffic enforcement remained active, with 512 traffic stops conducted and 136 tickets issued. Police also issued 263 parking tickets and investigated 75 motor vehicle accidents, including 11 involving personal injury.

Beyond enforcement, the report highlights internal and community efforts. The department’s training division logged more than 1,100 hours of training, including specialized instruction on domestic violence assessments and investigative techniques.

The detective bureau was assigned 16 new cases and closed 25, while the school resource officer program handled 61 incidents in and around school buildings.

Police also noted several community engagement efforts, including reading to students during Read Across America Week and participating in public safety messaging around impaired driving during St. Patrick’s Day.

Officers were also credited with rescuing a person from Owasco Lake on March 26 after the individual jumped from a bridge and called for help.
