Land Bank seeks developer for Seneca Falls housing project on Mynderse Street

A vacant parcel in Seneca Falls is being positioned as a test case for addressing the region’s housing shortage, with the Finger Lakes Regional Land Bank issuing a call for developers to build a new single-family home on the site.

The Land Bank announced this week it has released a Request for Proposals for the property at 108 Mynderse St., seeking qualified individuals or firms with experience and financing to complete new construction on the site.

Officials say the project is intended to serve as a model for future infill housing development across Seneca County, where new construction has lagged behind demand for years. The goal is to create a replicable approach that encourages private investment in market-rate housing throughout village neighborhoods.

To incentivize participation, the Land Bank said it will transfer the property at a nominal price to a selected developer who can demonstrate a viable building plan and financing strategy. The agency will also retain ownership during early project stages to help reduce carrying costs while pre-development steps, such as zoning approvals, are completed.

Proposals are due by June 12 and must be submitted electronically. The full RFP package is available through the Land Bank.

The Finger Lakes Regional Land Bank Corporation operates as a nonprofit public authority focused on returning vacant and tax-abandoned properties to productive use aligned with local priorities.
