Rochester General Hospital names Dr. Randall Green as new president

ROCHESTER — Rochester General Hospital has a new leader, with Rochester Regional Health naming Dr. G. Randall Green as president effective immediately.

Green steps into the role as the health system looks to maintain stability in day-to-day operations, working alongside hospital leadership to ensure continuity following a recent executive transition.

Health system officials said Green brings a track record focused on clinical quality, patient safety, and collaboration across departments. He has been with Rochester Regional Health since 2024, serving as executive medical director of the Sands-Constellation Heart & Vascular Institute.

In addition to his new responsibilities, Green will continue in that leadership role while maintaining his clinical and surgical practice.

Before joining Rochester Regional Health, Green held several leadership and academic positions at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, including division chief of cardiac surgery and director of the Upstate Heart Institute. He also served as an associate professor of surgery and held medical staff appointments at multiple hospitals, including Rochester General.

An accomplished cardiac surgeon, Green has contributed to research and innovation in the field, including work on medical device development for complex heart conditions. He is affiliated with several professional organizations, including national and international thoracic surgery societies.

Green said he plans to build on the hospital’s existing strengths while supporting staff and patient care efforts moving forward.

His appointment follows the transition of former president Tammy Snyder into a system-wide senior vice president of operations role within Rochester Regional Health.
