A three-night storytelling series in Ovid will bring one of the oldest epics in Western literature to life this spring, as a professional storyteller returns to share “The Iliad” in a live, multi-part performance.
Friends of the Three Bears announced that storyteller Jay Leeming will present the ancient Greek tale across three evenings at Papa Bear, offering a rare opportunity for audiences to experience the story as it was originally intended — spoken aloud.
The performances are scheduled for April 16, April 23, and April 30, each running from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Organizers said the series will unfold over the course of the three nights, allowing attendees to follow the narrative in sequence.
The event is free and open to the public, with organizers encouraging community members of all ages to attend. However, space is limited, and those interested are asked to reserve a spot in advance by contacting Friends of the Three Bears via email.
Leeming, a professional storyteller known for adapting classic works for live audiences, has previously performed at the venue, drawing interest from those seeking a more immersive literary experience.
