A new national survey finds Americans are divided on several moral issues, including abortion and pornography.
The Pew Research Center report is based on surveys of more than 12,000 U.S. adults conducted in spring 2025.
Researchers found most Americans view many everyday behaviors as morally acceptable or not moral issues.
According to the report, 96% of adults say eating meat is acceptable or not a moral issue, while 91% say the same about using contraceptives.
However, Americans remain split on other topics. About 47% say abortion is morally wrong, while roughly half say it is acceptable or not a moral issue.
Views on pornography are similarly divided, with 52% calling it morally wrong and 47% saying it is acceptable or not a moral issue.
The study also found sharp political differences, with Republicans more likely than Democrats to view abortion, homosexuality and pornography as morally wrong.
Researchers said 90% of Americans consider extramarital affairs morally wrong, making it the most widely condemned behavior in the survey.
