The award recognizes students in the Educational Opportunity Program for academic accomplishments and commitment. Bowman was one of 49 SUNY students honored.

An Auburn native, Bowman enrolled at Cayuga in summer 2023 and works in the Student Services Center on the Auburn campus.

“Despite facing academic challenges, she has remained determined to improve and stayed committed to her goal of graduating,” said EOP coach Vanessa Davis.

Bowman said her children and support from the college helped her stay focused on earning her degree.

“My children definitely motivate me to do better for them,” she said. “And Cayuga has given me phenomenal support.”

Bowman is scheduled to earn an associate degree in liberal arts and sciences: humanities and social sciences and is considering continuing her education.
