Dozens of students walked out of South Seneca High School Thursday to support a principal they say helped them feel heard, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
About 70 students gathered outside the school for roughly 35 minutes after learning Principal Sarah Horton will leave before the end of the school year to become principal at Penn Yan Elementary School.
Student organizers said Horton advocated for them and shaped a positive school culture. Some seniors said they’re upset she won’t be there when they graduate. District leaders said the demonstration remained peaceful and no discipline is planned.
