Man pleads guilty in Schuyler drug case

A Schuyler County man admitted to possessing a large quantity of methamphetamine and manufacturing equipment following a police search of his home.

Christopher L. Yaw, 43, of Montour Falls pleaded guilty Feb. 26 in Schuyler County Court to criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, a Class A-II felony.

Yaw will be sentenced by Judge Matthew C. Hayden as a second felony offender to nine years in state prison followed by five years of post-release supervision.

Authorities said the case began Sept. 15 when police executed a search warrant at Yaw’s residence.

During the search, investigators found more than two ounces of crystal methamphetamine along with meth manufacturing equipment, digital scales and packaging materials.

Police also recovered stolen property at the residence, including an e-bike and a dirt bike.

The investigation involved the New York State Police Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team, the Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team and the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Department.

Schuyler County District Attorney Jeremy Hourihan prosecuted the case.
