Fatal crash in Victory under investigation

A man died after his SUV rolled over in the Town of Victory early Sunday morning.

Sheriff Brian Schenck said deputies responded around 3:29 a.m. Sunday to Coolican Road near Kasson Way for a single-car crash. Investigators say the SUV traveled north on Coolican Road when it went off the east side of the roadway. The vehicle rolled over and ejected the driver before it came to rest on the east side of the road.

Emergency crews took the male driver to Upstate Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

A passenger in the SUV suffered minor injuries. Crews evaluated that person at the scene.

Authorities have not released the driver’s name as they wait to notify family members.

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office received help from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Red Creek Fire Department, Lakeshore Ambulance, Fair Haven Fire Department, and Cayuga County 911.
