Victory man charged after reported assault on private property

A Victory man faces an attempted assault charge after deputies said he entered another man's property, grabbed the man's shirt and struck him in the head.

The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office arrested Dale Gamba, 61, on July 26 after deputies responded shortly before 10:30 Sunday morning to a reported assault in the Town of Victory.

The man told deputies he was working outside when Gamba came onto the property and initiated a physical confrontation, according to the Sheriff's Office. Gamba had left before deputies arrived.

Investigators said they interviewed the people involved and identified Gamba as the primary aggressor. He was charged with attempted third-degree assault.

Gamba was processed at the Cayuga County Public Safety Building and arraigned in centralized court. He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Victory Town Court at 6 p.m. Aug. 5.
