Steuben County’s emergency services community is mourning the loss of one of its own.
The Bath Village Police Department and Steuben County Emergency Services announced the passing of 911 Deputy Director Nick Snyder, calling his death a tremendous loss.
Police said they felt “deeply saddened” by Snyder’s passing. They described him as “an unseen hero, guiding us through the chaos one call at a time and keeping us safe.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Nick’s family, his loved ones and our 911 family,” the department wrote.
Emergency Services leaders said Snyder joined 911 in 2005. He started as a dispatcher and later served as a dispatch supervisor, operations manager and eventually deputy director.
“It is with great sadness we announce the passing of one of our own, Deputy Director of 911, Nick Snyder,” the agency shared.
Leaders also sent prayers to his immediate family and his extended family at Hatch Hose Company. Officials said details on services will be forthcoming.
“Rest easy my friend, we have it from here!” the post concluded.
The agencies said the county and emergency service community have experienced a tremendous loss.
