Driver hospitalized after vehicle crashes into Walworth home

A wet stretch of Route 350 in Walworth turned into a crash scene this week after a vehicle hydroplaned, struck a parked car and slammed into a residence, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the crash happened near 4620 State Route 350. Investigators determined Kayla N. Smith, 23, of Phoenix, was traveling southbound when her vehicle lost traction on the wet roadway. Authorities said Smith was unable to regain control before leaving the road and hitting a parked vehicle, which was then pushed into the side of the home.

Smith was taken by ambulance to Newark-Wayne Hospital for evaluation of neck pain. Officials said no one inside the residence was hurt in the collision.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation found unreasonable speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

Lincoln and Walworth fire departments, along with Wayne County EMS personnel, assisted at the scene.
