Federal prosecutors have subpoenaed Minnesota’s top leaders amid an investigation into alleged interference with immigration enforcement, according to the Associated Press.
The Justice Department sent grand jury subpoenas to offices tied to Gov. Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison, and the mayors of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Investigators are examining whether public statements or actions obstructed a major ICE operation in the Twin Cities.
State and city leaders blasted the move as political intimidation. Federal officials defended the crackdown, citing thousands of arrests, while critics raised concerns about civil rights, transparency, and escalating tensions.
