Prosecutors have secured multiple indictments tied to assaults on corrections staff at Auburn Correctional Facility.
Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci said her office recently indicted several former inmates accused of attacking staff members or throwing bodily fluids while incarcerated. The cases involve incidents that occurred at Auburn CF and are now moving through county court.
The indictments include charges ranging from aggravated harassment of an employee by an incarcerated individual to assault and promoting prison contraband in the first degree.
Case details and charges
Prosecutors said Jamerlee Jones, arraigned Oct. 9, faces two counts of aggravated harassment of an employee by an incarcerated individual for throwing bodily fluids.
Nando Hernandez, whose indictment was unsealed Oct. 21 and who is awaiting arraignment, faces two counts of aggravated harassment of an employee by an incarcerated individual and one count of promoting prison contraband in the first degree.
Demeris Tolbert, arraigned Oct. 30, was charged with two counts each of attempted assault in the second degree and promoting prison contraband in the first degree.
Ali Muhammad, arraigned Dec. 9, faces two counts of aggravated harassment of an employee by an incarcerated individual.
Levar Murray, arraigned Dec. 5, was also charged with two counts of aggravated harassment of an employee by an incarcerated individual.
Shaquan Brown and Errol Fowler-Graham, both arraigned Jan. 13, were each charged with six counts of assault in the second degree.
All of the defendants are awaiting trial dates and are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
