Syracuse men’s basketball earns first ACC win at Georgia Tech (full coverage)

The Orange (10-5, 1-1 ACC) built a 14-point halftime lead behind their most efficient offensive half of the year, scoring 44 points while consistently attacking the paint. Freeman, making his first start in 49 days after returning from a foot injury, led the team with a career-high 27 points and provided a steady scoring presence throughout the night.

Syracuse jumped ahead early by pushing the pace and knocking down timely perimeter shots, connecting on three 3-pointers in the opening five minutes. Naithan George set the tone with energy at both ends and finished with 17 points, including nine in the first half, though he also committed six turnovers. Akir Souare added interior toughness before fouling out in eight minutes of action.

Georgia Tech (10-6, 1-2 ACC) played without center Mou Sylla, and the Orange took advantage by repeatedly getting to the rim. Syracuse carried a 44-30 advantage into halftime and stretched the margin to 20 early in the second half as Freeman scored nine straight points.

The Yellow Jackets mounted a late push, cutting the deficit to five as Syracuse struggled with turnovers and missed shots, but Freeman delivered timely baskets and free throws down the stretch to halt the rally and close out the road win.
