A new Dairy Queen is getting ready to serve up Blizzards, burgers, and soft serve in Ithaca later this month.
American Dairy Queen Corporation announced that a new DQ restaurant will open Jan. 14 at 407 Elmira Rd., next to Buttermilk Falls. Local entrepreneur Milan Patel will own and operate the location.
“I’ve always aspired to be an entrepreneur and build something of my own,” Patel said. He said opening a Dairy Queen in Ithaca allows him to bring a long-standing family tradition to the community.
Patel built his career in the hospitality industry before opening his first DQ restaurant in Elmira in August 2023. The Ithaca location will mark his second restaurant, with plans to continue expanding across upstate New York.
Community involvement will play a key role at the new restaurant. Patel said the team plans to partner with local schools, connect with Ithaca’s college communities, and support local events. The restaurant will also take part in Dairy Queen’s national partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
The Ithaca DQ will offer hot food and treats, including Signature Stackburgers, Chicken Strip Baskets, and the brand’s well-known soft serve. Menu options will include cones, sundaes, shakes, and Blizzard Treats.
The restaurant features a modern design with booths, community tables, a mobile order pick-up counter, drive-thru lanes, and an outdoor patio.
The Dairy Queen will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. starting Jan. 14.
