Police stopped two drivers in separate traffic incidents in Penn Yan late last month and early this month, leading to multiple vehicle and traffic charges.
Nicole L. Willoughby, 53, of Penn Yan was arrested Dec. 27 after police stopped her vehicle on East Main Street. Officers said they observed Willoughby driving with only a non-driver ID.
A check showed she had an ignition interlock restriction, but no device was installed in the vehicle. Police charged Willoughby with aggravated unlicensed operator in the second degree, unlicensed operator, and operating without an ignition interlock device.
She received traffic tickets and will appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
A second arrest followed a traffic stop just after midnight Jan. 2. Russell J. Aliff, 38, of Penn Yan was taken into custody after police learned the vehicle he was driving had a suspended registration due to no insurance.
Officers also found that Aliff’s driving privileges had been revoked following a prior DWI conviction. Police said Aliff was also required to have an ignition interlock device, which was not installed in the vehicle. He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operator in the second degree, operating while registration revoked, operating without insurance, unlicensed operator, and operating without an ignition interlock device.
Aliff was issued traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court.
