Venezuela demands Maduro’s release

Venezuela’s vice president went on state TV to demand the U.S. free the country’s captured leader, according to Associated Press reports.

Delcy Rodríguez called for the immediate release of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife after U.S. forces seized them during a military operation. She condemned U.S. strikes and vowed Venezuela would not surrender.

President Donald Trump said Rodríguez was sworn in as interim leader and signaled cooperation with Washington, while opposition figures argued a rival candidate should take power. U.S. officials said Maduro faces multiple federal charges, including narco-terrorism.

Meanwhile, Venezuelan communities in South Florida celebrated Maduro’s capture with rallies and chants for freedom.
