Geneva housing project clears key vote

After other downtown housing plans collapsed under public pushback, a 64-unit workforce project just moved forward in Geneva, according to the Finger Lakes Times. The city Planning Board voted 4–0 to approve a special-use permit for Litheo Flats on South Exchange Street.

The $30 million project would fill a long-vacant lot with a four-story building designed to look like multiple connected storefronts. Developers plan rents between $600 and $1,200 for residents earning roughly $30,000 to $60,000 a year.

Some residents raised concerns about parking, especially during major events nearby, but no one opposed the project outright. Developers now plan to pursue state funding next spring.
