Ontario County Board to vote on tax levy, health contracts, and key appointments tonight

The Ontario County Board of Supervisors will meet tonight at 6:30 p.m. in Canandaigua, with a hefty agenda covering everything from 2026 tax rates and health contracts to new county appointments and infrastructure projects.

One of the biggest actions on deck is the final approval of the 2026 county tax levy. Supervisors are expected to formally adopt the $89 million tax apportionment plan, following the budget’s approval last month.

Also on the agenda: more than two dozen agreements between the county and individual towns and cities for dog control services next year. These contracts cover municipalities across Ontario County and are part of the county’s ongoing partnership with the Humane Society to enforce local dog ordinances.

Public health contracts are another major topic. The board will vote on multiple therapy service agreements for children with special needs, along with a contract to enter the statewide SHIN-NY health data network. Officials say access to this network is essential for tracking communicable disease and managing public health data.

Supervisors will also vote on a resolution to levy mowing fees as tax liens on several properties in the Town of Farmington, where unpaid maintenance costs totaling more than $13,000 have been flagged as health hazards by the town code enforcement officer.

Other items include a new Deputy County Administrator appointment, the setting of the county’s 2026 organizational meeting, and a series of public safety contracts — including funding for jail services, mental health counseling, and a bike path project in the Town of Canandaigua.

Tonight’s meeting is open to the public and can also be accessed virtually via WebEx.
