A 100-year-old woman who helped build America’s wartime strength from the factory floor will share her powerful story during this year’s It’s A Wonderful Life Festival in Seneca Falls.
Mary Masciangelo of Perinton, a real-life “Rosie the Riveter,” will appear at the Women’s Rights National Historical Park on Sunday, Dec. 14 at noon. The event is hosted by the Zuzu: All Grown Up podcast, led by Karolyn “Zuzu” Grimes—the actress who played George Bailey’s daughter in the beloved Christmas classic—and her husband, Dr. Chris Burnell.
Masciangelo worked on the home front during World War II, joining the legions of women who kept America’s factories running while millions of men served overseas. At the event, she’ll speak about her experience during the war, her love of family, her lifelong service to veterans, and even a special family connection to It’s A Wonderful Life star Jimmy Stewart.
A short Q&A will follow her talk, and attendees can meet Mary afterward for photos and a celebration of the “We Can Do It” spirit she represents.
The event runs from noon to 12:45 p.m. at the Guntzel Theatre inside the Women’s Rights National Historical Park, located at 136 Fall Street in downtown Seneca Falls. Seating is limited, but the event is free and open to the public.
