A 54-year-old man was killed late Saturday night in a single-car crash at the intersection of State Route 12E and County Route 8 in Cape Vincent, according to New York State Police.
Troopers say the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. on November 29. The driver, who was alone in a 2024 GMC Yukon Denali, lost control while trying to navigate a curve on Route 12E. The SUV went off the road, hit a culvert, then struck an embankment and overturned.
The vehicle came to rest on the south shoulder of the road. The driver was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency crews from Thousand Islands Emergency Rescue Service, the Clayton Fire Department, and Cape Vincent EMS and Fire Department assisted at the scene. State Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
