With snowmobile season just around the corner, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is offering a safety course for young riders.
The Recreational Safety Division will host the New York State Snowmobile Safety Course on Saturday, January 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Wayne County Fire Training Building, located at 1525 Nye Road in Lyons.
The course is required for anyone aged 10 to 17 who plans to operate a snowmobile on public trails in New York. Attendees must be at least 10 years old on the day of the class. A parent or guardian signature is required, and participants should bring a pen and lunch.

The one-day course covers trail safety, rules and regulations, and responsible riding practices to help ensure a safe snowmobiling season for young operators.
