Man arrested after swinging bat, threatening business owners in Dundee

A Dundee man is facing multiple charges after deputies say he threatened business owners with a baseball bat and damaged property — all while two children watched.

Christopher M. Trank, 50, was arrested Tuesday morning following a disturbance at 8 Water Street in the village of Dundee, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 10:17 a.m. after receiving reports of a man trying to break into a local business by hitting the door with a bat. When officers arrived, they found Trank nearby and took him into custody without incident.

According to the investigation, Trank caused damage to the door and made threats to harm the business owners while holding the bat in a threatening way. Two young children witnessed the incident.

Trank is charged with menacing in the second degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and harassment in the second degree. He was taken to the Yates County Jail and is awaiting arraignment through the Centralized Arraignment Program.
