Seneca County’s 2026 budget would raise taxes by $159 for the average homeowner, according to Board Chair Mike Enslow in Finger Lakes Times.
The $116.4 million plan boosts spending by $5.5 million and raises the tax levy by $6.5 million. Officials blame rising costs for health insurance, retirement, and legally mandated services like Medicaid and jail operations.
To ease the impact, the county plans to increase revenue from sales tax and interest earnings while using reserve funds and cutting expenses.
