Holiday lights contest returns to Seneca Falls with over $2,000 in prizes

Seneca Falls is about to shine a little brighter. The 11th annual It’s a Wonderful Holiday Lights Contest is back as part of the 79th It’s a Wonderful Life Festival, and residents and businesses are encouraged to start decorating now.

Judging takes place December 8 and 9. Winners will be announced during the festival bonfire on Friday, December 12, at 7:30 p.m. — right in the heart of the celebration on Fall Street.

More than $2,000 in prize money is up for grabs. Each of the three contest categories will award $500 for first place and $250 for second:

  • The Clarence Award – for the brightest and most dazzling display
  • The Mary Bailey Award – for the best use of traditional decorations
  • The Uncle Billy Award – for the most creative use of holiday characters

“The contest provides an opportunity for Seneca Falls residents to get their ‘shine on’ and celebrate belonging to a community rich in the holiday spirit,” said Haidee Oropallo, president of the festival committee.

To enter, visit therealbedfordfalls.com/holiday-lights or pick up a form at the Downtown Deli (53 Fall St.) or WomanMade Products (91 Fall St.) in Seneca Falls. The contest is open to all residents of the town.
