A Moravia man is facing DWI charges after crashing his car into a utility pole late Sunday night in the Town of Locke.
Deputies arrested 21-year-old Darek K. Delaney around 12:44 a.m. Monday, shortly after responding to a single-car crash on Route 90, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say Delaney was the only person in the vehicle when it veered off the road and hit a pole, snapping it in half. He was treated for minor injuries at Auburn Hospital, where he also gave a blood sample to check his blood alcohol level.
Deputies charged him with first-offense DWI, speeding, and moving from a lane unsafely. After processing, he was issued traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Locke Court on December 3 at 7 p.m.
