Yates County Sheriff’s Office seeks man wanted for bigamy

The Yates County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted on a bigamy charge.

Christopher D. Tirao, born May 6, 1961, is wanted by authorities for allegedly entering into multiple marriages in violation of New York State law. Deputies say Tirao is known to be 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs approximately 200 pounds, and has black and gray hair with brown eyes.


The Sheriff’s Office issued a “Wanted Wednesday” alert featuring Tirao’s photo and key identifying information. According to the post, anyone who may have information about his whereabouts should contact the Yates County Sheriff’s Office at 315-536-4438 or send an anonymous text tip by texting “YATES” to 847411.

Bigamy, defined as marrying someone while already legally married to another person, is a felony under New York law.

Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances of the case.
