The Buffalo Bills (7-3) rode a historic performance from Josh Allen to a 44-32 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-4) on Sunday afternoon at Highmark Stadium. On a chilly, windy day with little defense on either side, Buffalo’s offense erupted for a season-high 44 points and 414 total yards while averaging 7.8 yards per play.
Allen matched a career high with six total touchdowns, becoming the only player in NFL history with multiple games featuring at least three passing and three rushing scores. Despite two early interceptions, he steadied the Bills by completing 19-of-30 passes for 317 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 40 rushing yards and three more scores on six carries. His five-yard touchdown run with 9:06 remaining gave Buffalo the game’s ninth and final lead change, and a nine-yard run with 2:35 left sealed the victory. Nine different Bills caught a pass, and James Cook and Tyrell Shavers each hauled in touchdown receptions.
The matchup swung wildly throughout the first half, featuring long touchdown plays from both teams. Ty Johnson broke free for a 52-yard catch-and-run late in the second quarter, but Tampa Bay trimmed the deficit to 21-20 before halftime. The Buccaneers briefly moved ahead in the second half behind Sean Tucker, who finished with 106 rushing yards, 34 receiving yards, and two total touchdowns. Baker Mayfield added 173 passing yards, two total scores, and 39 rushing yards, but Buffalo’s late defensive stand and Allen’s clutch drives ultimately decided the shootout.
