Rotary Club brightens Seneca Falls with holiday spirit

A group of Seneca Falls volunteers is working behind the scenes to make the town shine brighter this holiday season.

Seven members of the Seneca Falls Rotary Club gathered at the Town Highway Department this week to help re-light the town’s iconic Christmas angels. The metal-framed decorations, which hang from street poles each year, were in need of brighter, longer-lasting LED lights.

The effort was led by Highway Superintendent Jeremy Wendt, who opened up the department’s barn for the volunteers. Together, they spent the evening attaching new strands of lights to the wire angels — aiming to have them glowing throughout the downtown area in time for the holidays.

“Community service at its best,” said Rotary member Bob McKeveny. “Seneca Falls Rotary helps to make ‘A Wonderful Life’ even brighter.”

The decorations are part of a longstanding tradition in Seneca Falls, which embraces its link to the classic holiday film It’s a Wonderful Life. Organizers say the updated lights will ensure the angels shine more vibrantly for years to come.
