Camouflage gear, trench coats, and even Hawaiian shirts are on display in “Fit for Duty,” a Cornell exhibition tracing military uniforms’ impact on everyday fashion, according to the Cornell Chronicle.
Drawing on ROTC and alumni donations, the show explores how combat garments shaped style, sizing, and symbolism — from the battlefield to the runway. It spans decades and showcases how function and fit evolved into cultural icons like the bomber jacket and Doc Martens.
The exhibit also revives a partnership between Cornell’s fashion and military history programs, with plans to preserve archival uniforms and make them more accessible to veterans and visitors.
