The Town of Victor Zoning Board of Appeals held its regular meeting this past week, reviewing variance requests from Chick-fil-A and Phoenix Mills Plaza, among others. No decisions were rendered at the meeting, with the board expected to vote at a future session.
Chick-fil-A requests signage variances
Representatives for Chick-fil-A, located at 7979 Pittsford Victor Road, presented a revised application seeking variances to allow signage on elevations of the building not facing a public right-of-way or parking area—an exception to Section 165-5(B)(3) of the town code.
One element of the original proposal, a sign on the western elevation, was withdrawn. The revised application included:
- Two signs on the southern elevation totaling 100.65 square feet
- One 35-square-foot sign on the eastern elevation
According to the applicant, the additional signage is intended to improve visibility from multiple directions of travel. Board members questioned the precedent such approvals might set, particularly for signage on walls not adjacent to public view. No members of the public spoke on the application.
Lighting requested for Phoenix Mills pergola
A representative for Phoenix Mills Plaza, located at 100–410 Phoenix Mills Plaza, requested an amendment to a previously granted variance that allowed for a pergola to be installed in front of the building line. The applicant now seeks to add lighting to the pergola to accommodate a potential restaurant tenant interested in using the space for outdoor dining.
The board discussed the lighting plan, and while no objections were raised, no vote was taken. Board members indicated general support but will review the request further before making a determination.
Other business and future actions
While the board also heard applications related to accessory structures, no votes were taken during the meeting. All variance requests presented on Nov. 3 remain under review and are expected to be decided at a future meeting.
