Atrium on Genesee celebrates grand opening in downtown Auburn

Downtown Auburn is getting a fresh burst of energy with the official grand opening of the Atrium on Genesee — a newly revitalized business and community hub at 115 Genesee Street.

The public is invited to an open house on Friday, November 14, from 4 to 8 p.m. The event will feature ribbon cuttings by the Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce for two new tenants: Community Broadband Networks and Foxie Waxing & Beauty. Guests can enjoy live music, local art, light refreshments, and the chance to explore the transformed space.

Community Broadband Networks offers affordable internet, TV, and cellphone service. Foxie Waxing & Beauty, owned by Val Fox, provides professional full-body waxing for all genders.

The building—originally opened as a bank in 1865—has been reimagined by Fred Straus Inc. into a multi-purpose space designed to support business growth, creative collaboration, and community connection. Features include event areas, a wellness center, and flexible office suites.

“We embrace the history of Auburn as we transform into a revitalized commercial hub,” said Steven R. Straus, President of Fred Straus Inc. “We’re honored to be part of this thriving, growing community.”

The adjacent gallery space will highlight work from nearly a dozen local artists, with pieces by Michael A. DiGeorge, Amanda Marie Evergreen, Victoria Fitzgerald, Tom Hussey, and others.

“This space has been reimagined to support artists, businesses, and the wider community,” said Jesse Kline, Executive Director of the Auburn Downtown Partnership. “We encourage everyone to come out and see what’s new.”
