Voters across the Finger Lakes head to the polls today to decide dozens of local races — including several competitive contests for legislature, city, and town supervisor seats that could have a major impact on a range of issues.
Cayuga County
In Cayuga County, the spotlight is on Legislature District 10, where Amy Colvin Sargent (D) faces Michael Pettigrass (R) in one of the county’s most closely watched races.
In Auburn, four candidates are running for City Council — Terry Cuddy (D), Ginny Kent (D), Craig Diego (R), and Joe Villano (R) — setting up a partisan split that could shift the balance on the council.
There’s also a Locke Town Supervisor matchup between Fredrick W. Gould (D) and James H. Dempsey (R).
Ontario County
Several key city and supervisor races headline the Ontario County ballot.
In Canandaigua, Mayor Bob Palumbo (R) is being challenged by Thomas Lyon (D), while eight candidates — including Douglas Merrill (D), Sim Covington Jr. (D), and Ron Ouimette (R) — are running for City Council.

Town supervisor races are also tight across the county, including Canandaigua’s Don Cotter (D) versus Incumbent Jared Simpson (R), Naples’ Incumbent John Cowley (D) against William Stopka (R), and South Bristol’s Lisa Moore (D) versus Meghan Fuller (R).
In West Bloomfield, Tim Schiefen (D) faces Ruth Smith (R) for town supervisor.
