A Canandaigua man is facing multiple charges after deputies say he was driving while impaired by drugs during a late-night traffic stop on Halloween.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, 23-year-old John A. Rathburn was pulled over at 11:53 p.m. on Friday, October 31, near the intersection of State Route 5 and Cannan Road in the Town of East Bloomfield.
Deputies say Rathburn showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody after an investigation revealed he was under the influence of drugs.
In addition to the Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs charge, Rathburn was issued several traffic citations, including:
- Operating a vehicle without license plate lights
- Obstructed license plate
- Operating outside of license restrictions
- Failure to update address with the DMV
Rathburn was released at the scene and is scheduled to appear in East Bloomfield Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
The incident was investigated by Deputy Duliba of the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
